Marion’s Table Talks is an homage to my grandmother Marion whose 1950’s tea sandwich business was born out of her need to work from home after losing her husband to cancer, so she could care for her son, my uncle Jody, who had cerebral palsy. My grandmother used her culinary talent to make a living and every day women of all ages gathered at her dining room table to make tea sandwiches.
Every woman seated at that table played a different role, but it was always my grandmother who brought the boxes of tea sandwiches to the door when her customers arrived to pick up their order, because my grandmother was the brand. The talented women at her table allowed my grandmother to carry every box because we can’t do it alone - we need a table of talented women to support our dreams!
Marion's Table Talks is a monthly series featuring a female speaker who will share her special "Talent Recipe" and inspire you to explore your own. Plus, you will have the opportunity to connect with a new circle of women who just may have a talent you need.

Melissa Carter has more energy than most humans and it serves her and others so well. Energizing people is her talent, of which she has many. I met Melissa last June when she turned my little fashion idea into a big fashion idea.
Melissa is the founder of Kameo Vintage, a showroom in Winnetka, IL that houses her other talent - repurposing fashion. She humbly admits that her network has positioned her as a fashion icon; a tastemaker who has the ability to galvanize trends, a fashionista who possesses the superpower of infinite style, a revered vintage artist who has the capability of inciting trends. I will also tell you Melissa has a knack for making people want to put a little more energy into their world, because she gave me the oomph my fashion project needed. Melissa’s energy is literally contagious!
As a young girl Melissa was adventurous and some adults labeled her “mouthy.” Today, she puts both talents to work as she is known for being innovative, direct, strategic, flexible, and will defend the underdog at all costs. Melissa knows who she is and has always been conscious of her soul. If you need a little energy boost in your life, Melissa is the woman to serve it straight to you.
